When is the Sherman Oaks 100 celebration?

The centennial runs across calendar year 2027, marking 100 years since Sherman Oaks was named in 1927. Major events anchor the year, with smaller programs and partner events spread throughout.

Are events free to attend?

Most centennial events are free and open to the public. A few specialty programs (paid dinners, ticketed performances) may carry a cost — those will always be clearly labeled. Free programming will always anchor the year.

Who's organizing this?

A volunteer steering committee of Sherman Oaks residents, business owners, civic leaders, and longtime neighborhood figures. See the steering committee page for the current roster and working groups.

Is the centennial connected to the City of Los Angeles?

The centennial is community-led and not a City-run program, though we'll coordinate with the Council District, the City of Los Angeles, LA County, neighborhood council, and other public bodies as appropriate for events, permitting, and recognition.

How do I volunteer?

Use the volunteer signup form — let us know how you'd like to help, and we'll be in touch as roles open up. There's a role for almost any time commitment.

How do I sponsor or donate?

The sponsors page outlines tiers and what's included, plus a short interest form. Individual donations: a formal route will be published once the centennial's fiscal arrangement is finalized — write us in the meantime.

I have photos / archives / family stories — what should I do?

We'd love to hear from you. Write us through the contact form and pick "Historical contribution" or "Photo / archive submission" — we'll guide the rest.

Can my business be involved?

Yes. Several ways: sponsor, host an event, donate goods or services, run a centennial-themed in-store offer, or just join the local business mixer. Start with the sponsors page or write us directly.

I'd like to pitch an event — how?

Use the contact form and pick "Pitch an event." Tell us what you have in mind, who'd put it on, and where — we'll respond either way.

Will events be accessible?

Yes. All centennial-led events will work toward physical accessibility, accessible communications, and family-friendly programming. See the accessibility statement for our commitments and how to request specific accommodations.

How do I stay updated?

Sign up for the monthly newsletter on the home page. We aim for one short, friendly email each month — no spam, no flood.

Is this site finished?

It's a preliminary site — placeholders, draft language, and a structure ready for the centennial committee to fill out with real content as plans firm up. Expect changes through 2026 and into 2027.
