LegalTerms of Service.
Preliminary terms describing how the Sherman Oaks 100 website is intended to be used. Informational only — not legal advice.
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using the Sherman Oaks 100 website ("the Site"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, please don't use the Site. We may update these Terms from time to time; the "last updated" date above will reflect any meaningful changes.
2. About the Site
The Site is operated by the volunteer Sherman Oaks 100 Centennial Committee. It is provided as a community-led informational resource relating to the 100th anniversary of Sherman Oaks (1927–2027). The Site is offered free of charge and as a public service.
3. Informational use
The Site provides general information about centennial events, history, sponsorship, volunteering, and partner organizations. Content is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make a reasonable effort to keep information accurate and current, but we do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, or that the Site will be available without interruption.
4. Event information may change
Dates, times, venues, programming, ticket information, and other event details are subject to change, sometimes on short notice. Always confirm key details — especially for events you plan to attend — with the event's official notice closer to the date. The Sherman Oaks 100 Committee is not responsible for losses or inconveniences arising from changes to event information.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Site in any unlawful or fraudulent way.
- Attempt to disrupt, attack, or gain unauthorized access to the Site or the systems that host it.
- Use automated tools to scrape, harvest, or republish substantial portions of the Site without permission.
- Impersonate any person or organization, or misrepresent your affiliation with the Sherman Oaks 100 Committee.
- Submit content through forms that is unlawful, harassing, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or invades the privacy of others.
6. Submissions
If you submit information through a form (volunteer signup, contact form, sponsor interest, photo or archive submission, etc.), you confirm that:
- The information you submit is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
- You have the right to submit it.
- You're OK with the centennial committee storing and using the information as described in our privacy policy.
- For photo / archive submissions: you grant the centennial committee permission to use the submitted material for non-commercial centennial purposes (including online and in print) unless you indicate otherwise.
7. Intellectual property
Except where otherwise credited, content on the Site (text, graphics, logos, design, code) is owned by or licensed to the Sherman Oaks 100 Centennial Committee. See the copyright notice for details and permitted uses.
8. External links
The Site may link to third-party websites we don't control — partner organizations, sponsor sites, news articles, social-media accounts, maps, video hosts, etc. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of any external site. Linking to a third party does not imply endorsement.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The Site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither the Sherman Oaks 100 Centennial Committee nor its volunteers, partners, or sponsors will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Site.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Sherman Oaks 100 Centennial Committee, its volunteers, partners, and sponsors from any claims, losses, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Site.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute relating to these Terms or the Site will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
